Terms of sale
Last updated: 27 October 2026
These terms cover buying Yap and using your licence. We’ve kept them short and plain. Please read them before you buy.
Who you’re buying from
Yap is made and licensed by Goose Farm Ventures Pty Ltd (ABN 62 703 431 136), a company registered in Queensland, Australia.
In these terms, “we” and “us” mean Goose Farm Ventures, and “you” means the person buying or using Yap.
Before you buy
Yap needs a Mac with Apple silicon running macOS 26 or later, and it’s built for English.
You can try Yap free for 7 days, with no card and no account. The trial starts the first time you open Yap, and when it ends Yap asks for a licence key. Please use the trial to check Yap works well for you.
Buying Yap
Yap costs US$19, once. The price includes any sales tax, VAT or GST that applies, and checkout shows the final amount before you pay.
Payments are handled by Stripe, using Stripe Managed Payments. With Managed Payments, Stripe (through its Link service) may act as the seller of record for your payment, so your receipt and card statement may show Stripe or Link rather than us. Stripe works out and collects any tax, and its checkout shows the payment terms that apply to the payment itself.
These terms cover Yap and your licence. We’re responsible for both, whoever processes your payment.
After you pay, we email your licence key to the address you gave at checkout.
Your licence
When you buy Yap, you get a personal licence to use it. Your licence doesn’t expire.
You can activate Yap on up to 3 Macs that you own or use. To move Yap to another Mac, choose Deactivate This Mac… in Yap on the old one to free its place. If you can’t, because a Mac was lost, broken or sold, email us and we’ll reset your activations.
Buying for a team or organisation? Email us about a team licence.
Your licence is for you. You can’t sell, give away or transfer it unless we agree.
We own Yap. You’re buying a licence to use it, not the software itself.
Things you can’t do
- Share your licence key, or use it on more Macs than your licence covers.
- Reverse engineer, modify or tamper with Yap to get around its licensing, except where the law allows it.
- Sell, rent, share or redistribute copies of Yap or anything inside it.
- Use Yap to break the law.
Updates
Your licence includes every update to Yap for as long as we develop it. No upgrade fees and no subscription.
We can’t promise to develop Yap forever. If we ever stop, Yap keeps working on the Macs where it’s activated, offline, because it checks your licence on your Mac rather than with us. We can’t promise it will work with future versions of macOS.
Refunds
If Yap isn’t right for you, ask for a refund within 30 days of buying it. No questions asked.
Reply to your receipt or email support@yapforever.com, and tell us the email address you bought with. We’ll refund the full amount you paid to the card or account you paid with.
Once you’re refunded, your licence key can’t be activated again, and you agree to stop using Yap.
After 30 days we don’t give refunds for a change of mind, but your rights under the Australian Consumer Law still apply.
Australian Consumer Law
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
Nothing in these terms limits those rights, or any rights you have under the consumer laws where you live.
Our responsibility
Yap turns speech into text and tidies it with AI. Speech recognition and AI can mishear or reword things, so please check anything important before you send it.
As far as the law allows, we aren’t responsible for indirect or consequential loss, such as lost profits or lost data, and our total responsibility to you for Yap is limited to the price you paid. This doesn’t limit your rights under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that can’t be excluded.
Third-party software
Yap includes open-source software and an AI model made by others, each under its own licence. You’ll find them all under About Yap, in Yap’s menu.
The AI model built into Yap is provided under and subject to the Gemma Terms of Use. You agree not to use it for anything the Gemma Prohibited Use Policy forbids, or against the law. Those restrictions are part of these terms.
Privacy
Your voice and your text never leave your Mac. Our privacy policy explains the little that does, and why.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If we do, we’ll change this page and the date at the top. The terms that applied when you bought Yap keep applying to that purchase.
The law that applies
These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, and the courts of Queensland can hear any dispute about them. If you live outside Australia, you keep any protections your local consumer law gives you.
